About Me

I've been interested in photography since buying my first camera, a Pentax ME super in 1981. My interest became more serious in 1995 when I enrolled for a City & Guilds photography course and I've never looked back. If you are looking to develop your photography skills I would recommend this course to you. Not only do you learn from the experience of your tutor, but also from the other students.

I have tried many aspects of photography since college such as Portraiture, Landscape, weddings etc. but the one aspect which grabbed hold of me as soon as I tried it was sports photography. My first experience was assisting a local paper with some football shots. Since then I have done Motor racing, Horse racing, Rugby, more football from Sunday league up to premiership level, Cricket, Boxing, Golf and Athletics. I'm building a Sports portfolio at the moment and the photographs on this web site are a selection from that portfolio.

My Camera System
I moved from the ME super to a Pentax Z1p, the top of the range Pentax film SLR. I have recently made the jump to digital and invested in a Pentax *ist d. This is the Pentax digital SLR body.   The three main lenses I use are a Pentax FA*300mm f4.5 ED IF. A Sigma 70 - 200mm f 2.8 zoom and a Sigma 24-70 f2.8 zoom plus a sigma EX x2 teleconverter. Another very useful tool in my bag is a Manfrotto monopod.
I was reluctant to make the jump to digital at first but I must say I have never looked back. I guess the end of film is on the horizon. I kept the Z1p as I was sure I would use film but to be honest it has never been out of the bag since I got the digital and I cant think that it will come out. My advice therefore is if you are still thinking about the digital leap just go for it.
