| Kevin Baines - Fri Mar 28 12:25:27 2003 | Skinningrove Improvements. |
| Hi.I live next door at Brotton. For me, one of the most dramatic improvements would be to repair, and open up the jetty, and even go so far as to build a jetty on other side to form a harbour.Sort the iron oxide effluent problem out,and you have a useful recreational, and money spinning asset.Theres a lot of money to be made from people who like to mess around in boats, etc. Great beach! Cheers Kev | |

| Hey 'grovers. I see you taking my name in vain on your gossip column. I have not forgotten you, I am hard at work over the hol period on your song. I am this very moment putting a whole new set of strings on my guitar before overdubbing the guitar tracks. No expense spared!!! | |

| - Fri Sep 13 22:05:04 2002 | http:// |
| I recently visited Skinningrove and found it to be a place of great beauty. I found the 'secret beach' which people had commented on. I was very disapointed to observe people openly allow their dogs to defecate on the path to the beach and on the beach itself, without clearing it up. Several of the visitors I met this day on the beach with their families commented on the dog faeces. I also witnessed a fishermen throwing plastic bags over the concrete wall onto the beach and upon further investigation found these to be full of fishing waste produce! isn't this illegal?. I felt saddened by this as it seems the majority of Skinningrove community are working incredible hard to improve Skinningrove and the village itself is very clean. The villages I met were all very friendly and seemd lovely people. Keep up the good work. Paul. | |

| I think the Skinningrove website is excellent, I'm so pleased that I found it. I've put it in my favourites and now I can keep an eye on what's going on there. As a child I lived at Carlin How, looking down the bankside over Skinningrove. I have very happy memories of the place - Cattersty Sands, watching the pigeons flying, and a busy steelworks with buckets of iron ore on an overhead cable system, swinging past the windows of our house. Best wishes to everyone. | |
| Steve Thompson - Fri Aug 9 21:21:29 2002 | What |
| Of course Skinningrove is no dump and everyone who knows anything about it knows the truth. This is a place of great beauty, character and strength with much potential. I am sure others would give their eye teeth for the community spirit shown in Skinningrove. This village is fighting back from a very disadvanaged position, savaged by uncaring heavy industry and devastated by mother nature, forgotten by many as they lost their school, shops, library and whatever else. Those that knock and scoff should keep and eye on Skinningrove because they are coming out of the Iron Age and entering the Digital Age. In the first ever online pub quiz they beat PM Tony Blairs team in Trimdon and now there is a great friendship between these two villages, Trimdon and Skinningrove. A group from Trimdon will soon visit Skinningrove to see what lessons in community regeneration can be learned. They will do this because it certainly is not a dump | |
| Margaret - Wed Aug 7 23:07:51 2002 | Mrs. |
| Thankyou Cassie for your kind comments, although we tend to flood now and again I think Skinningrove is a lovely place to live, we have the best of both worlds. On one side of us is the sea and a lovely beach and on the other side is the country and North Yorkshire Moors, what more could we want or wish for?. | |
| cassie buck - Tue Aug 6 12:45:52 2002 | i love it |

| With regards anyone interested in what it was like living in the "Grove" in the 40s and early 50s I have written a book called "Yesterdays child" anyone interested e-mail me | |
| harriet - Thu Aug 1 17:02:05 2002 | http:// |
| I found your site through Commedia, which funded a site for a community group for me. I was really interestedI visited Skinningrove with a friend last summer on holiday; walked down the coast from Staithes, and found your beautiful beach and "interestingly strange" and rather mournful estuary. We were very struck with the sense of economic desolation in the place, and wondered how it would be to live there as a young person, how different from the economically deprived of urban areas with which we were more familiar. Anyway, its great to find the lively community spirit shining through your website. If I walk down Skinningrove way in the future, I will see it in a different light. all the best to your ventures. | 'what a dump' There are many friendly people in this village working many voluntary hours to create a clean and colourfull environment. Comments of such character are hurtfull and do not provide any positive or negative comments to which the community can respond. There are genuine folk who will respond to any comments and will work tirelessly to improve their village. As an employee in the village this place and community spirit is insparational. | |
| john kennedy - Wed Jul 31 19:35:26 2002 | http:// |
| spent many a happy time p[laying in the beck as a young un, plenty of trout and a good un of salmon, although couldn't get a look in for the latter for Ponksy and Feather Noble. On my visits back home I am forever saddened at the decline of my village through years of neglect and underfunding good luck with your work I sincerely hope you have success | |

| Its a pity the last one to enter remarks in the guest book had not left their name, even if you think what a dump we who live here don't | |

| We enjoyed reading about the area and all the exciting new projects. Skinningrove is lovely and deserves to have more resources put into it from the local council. (the children should have park facilities). What you are both doing is excellent. How well advertised are you? we recently spent some time in Skinningrove (25.5.02)and did not know about the cafe, everyone we met was very friendly (to us southerners). We look forward to visitng you next time and will make sure we tell our friends. | |
