Day Two

Today we visited two centres. Whilst in this centre we
updated the Skinningrove news page with news of our experiences in Amiens. First one was impressive with a good layout. Good ideas for Skinningrove centre from their desk layout. Second one had school children in. Ideas there for children accessing our centre. After the visit we had a French style sandwich.

Re-grouped at 2pm. Met at the town hall - Mairie. Went on to an evaluation meeting at the City Hall. Here we were evaluated the Community challenge in 2 different languages. Much debate went on over the challenge, trying to draw out the best way to go forward with it Each centre was then offered the opportunity to deliver a small presentation about their projects. We used photographs displayed through the laptop to put our story across. The pictures were very informative about all aspects of village life an about our aims to bring technology into the village. The pictures broke down the language barrier and proved very interesting. The Trimdons story was presented by Peter Carden. There were also presentations about Amiens, Liverpool and Millbrook. We returned to our hotel to charge our batteries, literally (laptops as well) Once refreshed we headed downtown to the centre where Amiens were to fight their corner against 4 other teams in the community challenge. Just before the online quiz started Steve Thompson was arrested. We had a whip-round but could not raise enough to convince the officers to keep him in custody all night!

As our home team were not playing we did not feel guilty about assisting Amiens. It was exciting to see 5 teams playing all at once and we did our bit with messages into the message board. It was a close match and Amiens were hoping to triumph having lost to Loftus last time but Loftus were once again the victors.

In the evening taken out to be wined and dined courtesy of Jerome. After his brush with the police Steve decided to be inspector Clouseau for the evening. Our French friends appeared to find this most amusing. Click here
