NINTENDO Wii PLAY-OFF

Age 12-15 years

Come and show off your gaming skills in our Nintendo Wii competition, and win up to £30 of HMV vouchers. The games to be played are sports based, and will include tennis, golf and boxing.

There is a series of heats and the winners from each heat will then go through to the grand final. There’s a competition for the lads and another for the lasses.

CAPOERIA

Youth Dance Academy, Holmwood School
10th - 14th March

Bocao Alexander, will teach you the basics of this Brazilian based martial art and dance form. You will learn all the basics moves which when put together will enable you to impress your friends and will be showcased in a final performance at the Braziliant Festival

This initial starting point is an excellent introduction and will enable you to explore Capoeria further.

Thursday 6th and Friday 7th March
10:00 – 16:00 workshop

Film, animation and radio taster sessions. Get an introduction to animation stop motion techniques as used by Oscar winners and seen virally on You Tube and around the Internet. Learn how to produce your own radio show by creating jingles and editing sound recordings. Learn about ‘in camera effects’ and make a starting and quick movie magical stuff!

WRITE YOUR OWN RADIO PLAY

Playing for Success Centre, Middlesbrough Football Club
Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd March
10:00 – 16:00 workshop

This is an intensive two-day workshop for budding radio dramatists aged. Work with a professional writer to create a radio play and then bring it to life with voices and sound effects. Then, as the icing on the cake, hear it broadcast by art radio station Resonance FM, broadcasting from Middlesbrough during the AV Festival.

BRAZILIAN BEATS

Middlesbrough City Learning Centre-MCLC, Acklam Grange
25th to 29th Feb
5pm - 7pm

Brazilian Beats will let you produce your own electronic tunes inspired from Brazilian beats and music. The workshops will teach sampling, production, remixing and scratching, you’ll be mentored by Middlesbroughs beat producers Tubbyphunk.

The tracks will be used by the capoeira dancers for their performance at the Braziliant Festival and will be published on the Brazilant website.
