History
In 1975 Hunwick Cricket Club re-formed and although living in Sunnybrow at the time Geoff became a member of the newly formed committee. This started our long association with Hunwick Village. We were made to feel so welcome and part of the village we moved to 22 South View in 1979.
The practice was opened in 1976, mostly due to the persistence of Tommy Bowes, as a part-time branch practice in very small rented premises in Willington. After two years the practice outgrew the original building and larger premises were bought at 92 High Street where we are still located. One of our earliest employees was Jill Steele who later moved to Australia with husband David Crossan and family.
At this time the Willington Practice was run in conjunction with the practice we had bought in Hartlepool in 1975 and this continued until 1991 when we decided that the two practices were too busy for one optometrist, so Hartlepool was sold so that we could concentrate on Willington. History has proved that this was a good move and we have been able to build up Willington to full-time (allowing enough time for Geoff
